Stuff To Do

Bear Valley is famous for its downhill skiing, but there is so much more. We offer world class opportunities for cross country skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, off roading; hiking, mountaineering, kayaking; mountain biking, road biking, and camping in and around Bear Valley. This is truly a four season playground as most of the land surrounding the town of Bear Valley is either protected National Forest or designated Wilderness.

A great site for unusual links on stuff to do in the [WWW]Alpine County area.

2008-08-25 07:23:15   This past weekend we visited with some friends down at Pinecrest Lake. Pinecrest is a neat little mountain lake, very similiar to Lake Alpine. The El Toro sailboat fleet regularly sails regattas on this lake, this weekend was their "Worlds". - World Championships. OK, it's all taken with a grain of salt, just for fun. It got me to thinking if there was any sailors in BV or surrounding areas that would be interested in a casual sailing club? Events(races) on Lake Alpine? yes, I know it's shifty and gusty, but so is Pinecrest, and that's part of the challenge. Any interest in sailing in the ourbv.com community? —BobRynd

2008-08-26 08:05:49   It is fun Tony, any kind of sailboat will do. If just a handful of folks with boats get together, hey, it's a regatta. There is a handicapping system that rates different boats against a time/mile factor(available online). I've sailed my little boat on Lake Alpine and I've met a couple of sailors from Arnold, if we could all get together, set some marks, we got a race! —BobRynd
